Week 32 in Uruguay: "Falling in love with my area"

March 19-March 26

Falling in love with my area!

Tuesday – Wednesday

Today we got to have lunch with our Stake President.  Oh, my gosh, it was so funny!  His birthday is the 20th of May and I said, no way serious, so he goes in a sarcastic way, “no elder it was a joke” lol.  I told him no it’s cool because my mom’s is the same day, so he responded and said. “wait serious” lol. I said no President, I’m kidding. Everyone lost it.  It was so funny! Lol.  Well, we taught David and we taught him how to pray but using an analogy of a sandwich. Bread on top is Heavenly Father and bread on the bottom is in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.  They are always there and in between is all you want to say!  It was so funny. He couldn’t figure that a sandwich has bread. He kept on saying bacon, meat, cheese, lettuce, lol.  Then he would say maybe an egg. So funny!  It was a great day and we contacted a lot of people today!

Thursday – Friday
We had a zone conference all day.  It was awesome!  We were up at 5am and we got home at 8pm but the conference was about how to help our investigators become closer to the spirit.  Best ever!!  It was a direct answer to my prayers.  After, we talked to all the other missionaries serving!  Oh my gosh, I love the people in my mission!  After we got home, my comp told me he was out of money.  I told him I would give him 200 pesos if he eats a cricket, lol.  We found one and he fried it with a little salt and bottoms up.  Lol so gross!
Today, I cooked rice and chicken, it wasn’t bad!  I made like chicken fried rice. After, we went and taught Albero’s wife with our new missionary in the ward.  She is 80 years old but has a strong testimony.  The lesson went well.  We talked about how we are the light of the world and the examples to the world.  No matter what we have to be witnesses and examples to the world.  After, we taught Mari, who is 9 years old.  We saw Hermano Bauts, I love him!  He calls me “my boy” haha.  I love it.  Well, we had a lesson and I shared the scripture Mosiah 2:41. It hit the mom of Max, who is smoking, pretty hard.  It was revelation and the spirit without a doubt to help me share that scripture with her in that moment.  She is going to change her life.  I’m so lucky to be an instrument in the hands of our Heavenly Father.

Saturday – Sunday
We taught a new person which was awesome. His name is Vincent!  I left my Book of Mormon in his house on purpose so he has to see us again.  We also taught Silva y Herrera!  Holy cow, they had so many questions.  It was a good lesson!  Hopefully they receive their answers.  We also sang on a bus, lol and this little girl sang with us.  It was so cute!
Sunday, a member grabbed me telling me I have a special light about me.  I love the people here!  We found out that this member gave her testimony for like 20 minute a couple months ago and the President tapped her to finish. She yelled and said he was hitting her!  So Bad!  Andrea and Silva y Herrera came to church. How cool right!  We also met another new contact, an older lady.  She was so excited to talk to us.  I read in Matthew 25, when we serve others and don’t bury our talents but share them, we are serving Jesus Christ.  Please look to serve and be like our Savior!

Week 31 in Uruguay: "New Comp"

March 12- March 19

“New Comp”

Wednesday-Thursday

Well first, Tuesday night we had a rap battle, it was dope!  I said goodbye to Maza! Ahh I’m going to miss my comp, Elder Maza.  I love that kid.  Well, I chilled most of the day waiting for my comp.  He is from Spain Barcelona.  His accent is crazy! Haha He is super funny!  I’m praying we have a good change together. So far it seems like we will. Thursday was terrible.  I helped my comp get all settled.  We had to take a taxi.  He had to bring some other stuff for people.  I thought I would be nice and pay for him and so I did.  We arrived and I unloaded all the things and got inside and my wallet was gone!  Lost it.  The rest of the day was ok.  We contacted people then taught a kid that told my comp some inappropriate words. My comp loves pizza haha! So we have already eaten pizza twice!  I haven’t had pizza for 4 ½ months haha!  He does have a good way of talking to people.

Friday- Saturday
We taught Andrea about baptism, she is perfect!  We then went to the church for our family home evening night.  No one showed but Andrea came later. We played games with her and watched the Stonecutter video.  She loved it!  Her daughter recited the whole video!  She also acted out every part, super funny!  Friday was an awesome day!  Saturday we taught Albero.  It was a super awesome direct lesson!  The spirit was super strong!  We also contacted monkeys lol, we went and talked to people at the local zoo!  No one wanted to talk to us. So we contacted animals lol!  So many doors slammed in my face, we ate another pizza which makes 3 for the 3 days that my comp has been here! Lol!

Sunday
It was the worst storm on Sunday!  Our Branch President knew it was going to be like this so he sent us a text at 10pm saying we should be prepared to give a talk in sacrament if the members don’t show up.  Sure enough, we were giving talks in front of our Rama with the Stake President there and all!  It went really well. You have got to love that if we get called on the spot we can just talk about Christ and the Book of Mormon.  Pretty cool!  After we set apart an older lady to be a missionary with us.  The power of the Priesthood is so special and how lucky are we to have it here on the earth today.  After, we talked to the stake president and got everything ready to have activities where people will show up. Today was a good day!

Week 30 in Uruguay: "Painting is my specialty"

March 5-March 13

"Painting is my specialty"

Tuesday – Wednesday
Tuesday we traveled to Montevideo, yup the big apple, lol.  I had to go downtown to the police station to become a citizen of Uruguay.  It was dope! I got my fingerprints taken plus I got to visit with some other elders.
Wednesday, we were back to being the best thing, the Lord’s servants.  We worked like crazy!  My feet are so sore, lol.  We found a ton of people.  We talked to one guy that said to me, “you can call me whatever you like”, lol very weird conversation with him.  We also taught Siva y Herrerai.  They are getting baptized the 14th of April!  Let’s Go!! Well, I learned a very important thing Wednesday night.  Don’t wait to the last minute to wash all your clothes and bedding because when I fell asleep I had no covers. They were all wet!  I froze!!  I ended up putting wet covers on anyways.  So cold!  The weather is crazy here, it’s almost fall.  The days are still hot but the nights are cold.

Thursday – Friday
We got up at 5am. The weather is starting to change and it was so so cold in the morning!  People are telling me it’s going to be one of the coldest winters this year, ahhh!!  Well, we went to Canelones for our district meeting!  It was so good.  We need to listen to accept and we need to accept to do and we need to do to feel!  Love it!  After, we walked for forever and had lunch with everyone.  We drank natural grape juice. We watched them make it, lol. We drank so much… my stomach died after!  We did a service for the family.  We painted their house!  I painted this whole room, I was covered in paint!  It was fun and the family was so thankful.
Update on my feet, well from proselyting in my sandals and trying to be like our  Savior, my feet are raw!!  Yeah, they are taking a beat down haha.  Friday was so cool!  We went to a wedding where we were witnesses.  I signed for this couple, Siva y Herrerai.  All the people were laughing and it was so fun.  Well, today such a good day!  We taught this older lady that has a lot of health problems.  I felt like I talked the whole time to her, but she loved us just being there for her. We also got Albero to accept a date to be baptized, pray for him.

Saturday – Sunday
Saturday was such a good day!  I thought I was going to die though.  So first, I learned how to do the rubik's cube!  It’s actually pretty fun, lol.  Well we ate platano, it’s like a big banana. After, we ate shepherd’s pie with our President of our branch!  I ate so much!   It was insane!  We also had pudding cake!  So much food!  I taught him how to play “I spy” haha so funny!  Well, we had an activity and Andrea went, it was so cool.  We ate scones, and then I played with all the kids!  I love the kids here!  After, we had a barbeque!  I played with this kid named “ Nacho” haha.  I played “ can you survive the seven seas”.  It was so funny to hear his laugh.  Well, I died, I was so full, I am 99% positive I gained 20lbs haha.  I ate like a king today!  I got home and talked to Elder Guindo.  I freaking miss him!!
Sunday, we went to a baptism in Santa Lucia, we ate with a recent convert there and with all of our hermanas in our district, lol.  Super fun!   Well, Elder Maza and I did our weekly planning!  It was our last one!  Gosh I am going to miss that dude.  It’s crazy how you grow to love your comp.

Well, remember that serving is our purpose!  It isn’t just preaching the word but its doing things for others, doing it out of love.  Look for ways to serve and be like our Savior!  Look for ways to teach by serving.  Remember it’s a once in a lifetime, we get to do this, it’s not a have to.
