Week 45 in Uruguay: "Leading and Directing"

6/18/18-6/25/18

Leading and directing

Tuesday to Wednesday
Tuesday we had an intercambio. I had to say goodbye to the son for the day haha. I understand why parents sent us kids off to camps and other things lol. Well, we found a guy who was a miracle! He is such an awesome person. After, we taught Karla and her family.  It was a super cool lesson on faith. The spirit was so strong! Ether 12 whenever you have doubts. After, we taught Fabiana. She is one funny lady lol. Later, I received a call from President Eddy that I would be leading the mission conference for Elder Bragg of the Seventy. On Wednesday, we ate with Laurito’s and her new wiener dog that is so so cute! We then biked forever and went to President Eddy‘s house. He invited us over for dinner. We had chili and bread with honey butter. I died it was so good!! We started talking about Disney movies and I think I was more excited to talk about Disney than the little kids.

Thursday and Friday
Thursday, we gave a book of Mormon away to a kid who was really interested in the church. The kid was a stud. After, we taught Karina. She drilled us with questions on how we know there is a God and why we are serving a mission. I was able to bare my testimony to her.  The spirit was so strong I started to tear up. The mission is making me soft haha, but being able to testify about God and Jesus Christ is so special. My testimony grows every day.  I know this is true with all my heart. Please share your testimony with everyone! After, we are walking home and I had a strong feeling to turn around and knock at this house. A guy came out and said we could teach him. He said he had been waiting for us.  So cool!  We only talked about family and how Jesus Christ died for us. After, we said a prayer. I had the opportunity to say it, the guy started to cry. He felt the spirit so strong. He gave me a big hug after.  I love serving the people of Uruguay here, nothing better.  Friday we woke up super early and traveled to Malvin. We had a mission conference and got to listen to Elder Bragg from the seventy! I got to meet and talk with Elder Bragg as I directed the whole conference. I was a little nervous. Everyone said I should be used to it because of basketball lol, totally different feeling.  The conference was amazing and I learned so much on faith and how to grow more as a mission, zone, district and person of Jesus Christ. Elder Bragg and I were chillin, making jokes and eating mints together on the stand.   After, we took a picture and talked about BYU basketball, so excited!   We had sloppy joes for lunch. It’s been a minute since I’ve eaten that.  So good!

Saturday to Sunday
Saturday, we taught Fabiana.  Fabiana opened up so much to us.  She cried and then my comp and I bore our testimonies. At the end of the lesson, her and 2 of her friends wanted to be baptized.  So cool!  We have a lot of work to do but I am excited.   Sunday 7 investigators came to Church!  After, we taught the familia Laurito.  I’m so exhausted by the end of the day but love the work and helping my district.

Week 44 in Uruguay: "My Son Got in the Water for the First Time"

6/11/18-6/18/18

My son got in the water for the first time!

Tuesday - Wednesday
I did my first district meeting today! The spirit was so strong! I was so excited to lead and have this opportunity! We talked about our investigators and I had the chance to teach them the things that I have both seen and learned from my amazing comps!  After the meeting we did an activity with our District, it was awesome! My comp and I studied after the meeting! We had a big talk, haha that both left us crying.  I read DyC 33:8 with him as he was feeling frustrated. Ahh the spirit was so strong! I know God puts us with people to grow. After, we left the house and every lesson fell through, it was terrible! But we kept working and ended up teaching a young lady named Daniele. Such an awesome girl. We put a date for her to be baptized! My comp changed in that lesson. He was loving it! Laughing, smiling and teaching. I have a firm testimony of the spirit and it changing lives. After, we said Happy Birthday to Laurito. Wednesday was a conference to train the new leaders. We had Teriyaki Chicken!!!!! We taught Joaquin and put a date for his mom to be dunked.

Thursday or Friday
We rode our bikes so FAR! As my comp says, “we rode to Timbuktu”! lol super funny! We rode for like 15 miles there and 15 miles back! We found a lot more people to teach just not the investigators we were looking for.  We also were without hot water and it’s so so cold here. Well, I fell asleep right at 9 o’clock, I was dead! Friday, we planned then went looking for the member’s house. Well, I didn’t know where they lived so when I thought we were close I knocked on a house and ask the person.  They said something that I didn’t hear so I pretended to ask a dumb question to contact them and ask them about Christ. They were not only members but the people who were supposed to eat with, so embarrassing! Well, we taught Joaquin. That kid is always happy and humble. I love that dude!

Saturday to Sunday
We baptized on Saturday! Elder Hill got in the water for the first time! I was so happy for him. He did it perfect! Well, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows as my son always says, lol.  We got to the church to get ready for the baptism and the faucet water was so dirty we had to drain it. We had to carry buckets from the font to the sink to empty out the water. The drain was broken! We drained the water after an hour of dumping buckets. We had to relay buckets of water to fill it with clean water but we filled it just in time. We definitely bought a pizza after.  Sunday was so cold, the ground was like frozen! Elder Hill bore his testimony and Joaquin received the Holy Ghost.  Such a good day! After, we studied and visited the Laurito family who bought a wiener dog! It’s name is Olivia. I am in love with that dog.  Remember that if we pray for specific things with Fe (faith) we WILL receive.

Week 43 in Uruguay: "Whole New Start"

6/5/18-6/11/18

Whole New Start

Wednesday – Thursday
Well, I got trained to be a trainer.  We met our “sons” at the Temple.  Guess what… I got a Gringo!  He is from Georgia and his name is Elder Hill.   We jumped into working and we were able to teach Joaquin today.  He is so humble.  I love that kid.  He is the sweetest lil kid ever.  My comp taught really well. He knows very little Spanish but he is trying.  I’m so excited to be a father, haha.  Thursday was the first real day with my “son” haha.  Well he didn’t know how to ride a bike and so that morning we had some lessons.  He fell once, but by the end we got him riding.  After, we taught Karina and what a blessing it is to speak by the Spirit. My comp has a long way to go, but is learning every day.  I remember how hard it was.  We talked to so many people and we passed by Laurito’s.  Hermano Laurito’s family started to open up to us more!  It was awesome!  I love that familia!  On the way home, we had a guard dog follow us. He was such a cute dog.  Well, that night my comp and I had a heart to heart.  He told me all his struggles, I felt for him.   After, I bore my testimony and we were both just crying, lol.  The spirit was really strong.  The next day, we talked to so many people, it was awesome.  We talked to these little kids.  I showed them some basketball spinning skills, and they think that it’s like magic.  They are planning on coming to church.

Friday – Saturday
Friday, we taught Sofia and her Family.  I’ve gotten so close to them now.  I love them!  Sofia’s daughter finally gave me a high five, lol.   We taught them the 10 commandments. It was super fun because we used a beach ball to teach.  I had my comp try to speak to them so it was good for him. After, we contacted until I got lost … so funny.   “Trainer of the year!” haha.   We got home and we studied.  I worked on teaching him Spanish.  After, we milked Alfores and had another heart to heart that I felt really helped him.  Saturday was super fun!  We had a work activity.  We played volleyball and basketball.  Definitely made my day, haha.  After, we had a huge lunch and the members played karaoke.

Sunday
What a day Sunday was!  We went and gave a blessing to a sick member and then had a charla with a family. We talked to them about José Smith.  I was able to say the 1st vision and the spirit was so strong!  I teared up as we talked about José Smith.  After, we taught Joaquin, love that kid.  I just can’t believe how humble he is.  I need to be more humble that’s for sure.  Well, my son and I are doing good!

Have the best week!!
