Week 57 in Uruguay: "Captain American's Brother"

9/10/18-9/17/18

Captain America‘s Brother!

Tuesday - Wednesday
Tuesday we gave a blessing to a man and it was super cool. He has been inactive but told me I really helped him to become active again. It was super cool to hear him say that. The Spirit was amazing! Wednesday we traveled 6 hours back to the Montevideo for zone meetings. We got to go to the temple! I love the temple so much. There is nothing better than being in that sacred building. If you haven’t been there in a while, I really encourage you to go this week. I had the best opportunity to sit in the Celestial room and just feel the spirit. It was exactly what I needed! After, I gave a presentation to the mission, it was super cool. That night we worked with the assistants. We found an amazing family and a guy who is ready to change his life. It was amazing!

Thursday - Friday
We took our 6 hour bus ride back home, lol.  I was out! We found a lot of people to teach. Duby talked to us about his girlfriend. Let’s just say it was a super super funny lesson with him. He tried to be so innocent haha. Friday I worked with a different Elder that just got here.  It was such a fun day with him. We played soccer that night and I finally played a lot better, haha It was actually fun, who knew I would like soccer haha.

Saturday - Sunday
Saturday was a great day. I finished the day with the new Elder. He told me how he feels that I brought a piece of Utah to Uruguay haha. Love that kid, Elder Dotson. Saturday we also watched the face to face video with Elder Cook. It was so good, you must watch that for sure.  Sunday, we taught a family and all the kids said I looked like Captain America lol, killed me, so funny! So the parents have now convinced them that I’m brothers with Captain America. So cool!  We told them not to tell anyone because I am on a secret mission, lol so funny. Also this drunk guy stopped me in the street to take a picture with me lol, love the people here! Well, love you all. Smile and serve others. Do your best and look forward.

Week 56 in Uruguay: "Change of Heart, Change of Mind"

9/3/18-9/10/18

Change of heart, change of mind

Tuesday - Wednesday
We woke up at 1am and caught a bus at 2am to go to a Consajo with Presidente Eddy. The whole conference I felt like it was for me! It was a direct answer to my prayers. We talked about the attributes of Christ and finding those attributes in your companion. It changed my outlook on this area. We got back at 11:30pm, haha , it was a long day! Consajo is like the Jedi Council! It’s the most spiritual thing, with all the zone leaders gathered together. Wednesday, we did an intercambio and I was with Elder Perez. We had a way good day. Definitely was a day of miracles.

Thursday - Friday
We went out to work and it was a really really hot day! I was dead but my whole attitude changed this week! I felt such a powerful feeling to just be able to testify and we were able to find so many people. It was such a miracle week! We are teaching a man named Duby who is such a Capo! I love this dude. He broke his foot so we connect well, lol. Friday, my comp got sick so it was a day to read, plan and workout.

Saturday - Sunday
Well, Saturday was an awesome day. I had been inviting a ton of kids to play futbol so we can finally get this area rolling. When the night came we had over 15 kids show up to play. It was super cool! We had a shoot off and dang, the Latinos know how to play soccer, I’m pretty sure I looked like a chicken with its head cut off but oh well, it was fun. We are teaching a boy named Maxi and Facundo. Please pray for them! Sunday, I got asked to speak in sacrament because none of the speakers showed, lol yeah I was the only speaker!! Nothing better than a homecoming talk right? It was super good though, I’m learning stuff every day. I have two things to share to end my email. “ A man or woman never stands taller than when they are on their knees”, also if Jesus Christ stood before you what would you ask him, or would you just listen? Let me know your thoughts. Pray for Maxi, Fabiano, Belen, Pamela, Marcelo, Duby, Sergio, Mario, Basilro, Katherine, Bryan and Alexis.

Please pray for Elder Taylor Smith in Japan experiencing earthquakes and Elder Colby Richardson in the hurricane.

Week 55 in Uruguay: "I'm Going to Melo"

8/27/18-9/3/18

“I’m going to Melo”
Monday
We were able to attend the temple with Lucia, such a cool experience. The spirit was really strong. I was able to do some confirmations, it was the best feeling ever. Seriously, there is nothing better than being in the temple! I also said goodbye to my old area. The familia Laurito was the hardest goodbye. That place will always have a piece of my heart. Joaquin showed me how to make a Dream Catcher! Such a cool experience. Seriously I will miss that place forever! Its filled with humble and extraordinary people.

Tuesday – Wednesday
Well, I am now off to the farthest place in the mission! I’m in Melo, which is right by Brazil. Part of my area is Brazil. Time to start studying Portuguese! I hated having to say goodbye to people. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. It was like leaving my family all over again. Super hard. I took a 6 to 7 hour bus ride to my new area then waited another 20 minutes because my comp was late lol. My comp is from Peru. Super cool guy! I live in a house of straight Latinos. So time to brush up on my Spanish again. Wednesday, we gave a talk/lesson to our zone and helped some Elders move. Fun day! I have a lot more to do, haha. It’ll be fun though.

Thursday – Friday
It has been a different world living here. It’s super humid and so rainy. The people speak a mix of Spanish and Portuguese but hey, what is the gift of tongues for if we don’t have faith! Thursday, we talked to a ton of people. Friday, we talked to a guy named Duby (like Dobby in Harry Potter) haha. He is awesome! He was in an accident so we can’t baptize him right now, but el es un Capo. It’s been freezing here lately.

Saturday – Sunday
Saturday, I had the best study. If you ever have doubts trust in your mamas! They know all. (Alma 56) Well, today was so so cold. I froze! Lol, but we did teach a family and I was able to bare my testimony about my family. The spirit was so strong. It seriously felt like a piece of heaven was with us. We also taught Duby. I love this dude! He is such a humble guy. Sunday, well.. we have 20 members here and all of them are super old. We don’t have a mission leader and our Bishop is sick, so yeah… this area is a little tough, haha. I get to speak in Sacrament next week. This area definitely won’t be easy, but with a little faith anything is possible.
