Week 49 in Uruguay: "Swimming with the Fishes"

7/17/18-7/23/18

Swimming with the fishes

Wednesday - Thursday
Today was insane.  First off, we saw a possum sacrificed on the street.  Later, we passed by Fabiana‘s house. A dog got hit by a car so she asked us to help.  We carried the dog and dug a hole and buried it.  First time digging a grave in the mish haha. After, we ate so much pizza,  super good. My comp and I froze today haha. It was so cold. It rained ALL Day today. It was super cold! After we taught Milagros. She was amazed with a trick I do haha. After we had a huge miracle happen. We taught Jonny the husband of Karina. It was a super powerful charla of us sharing experiences. We then taught Luis. Luis really wants help with his family. It was a good lesson. We talked a lot about families. We testified and the spirit was super strong. Such a good feeling! Thursday was such a cold day. A lightning bolt hit outside of our house and the whole house shook! So many things happened because of that dead possum sacrifice lol! Later, we definitely had a miracle happen. We taught Juan’s daughter Lucia that is 20. She is AWESOME!  Super super cool lesson with her.

Friday - Saturday
We had an amazing charla with Lucia and her dad. We talked a lot about the missionaries and the church. I hope we can baptize them together. Lucia has this puppy that is so cute haha. I miss my pup Bear!  We also stopped by Milagros and then Fabiana. Fabiana is all good.  She is having doubts on baptism so please help/pray for her! Saturday, we had the chance to play basketball and soccer while getting ready for the baptism of Milagros. The day was amazing! For the baptism, I got asked on the spot to give a talk and lead the music. So that was fun lol. The talk I did was on faith. It wasn’t too bad and Milagros and Fabiana started to cry. The spirit was super strong! My comp baptized Milagros. Such a special day!

Sunday
We had such a miracle happen. We had eight people come to church, it was awesome! It was also insane today. I had to answer so many questions for people but it was all about baptism. We taught Maicol today with drawings, then gave a blessing, and then taught Fabiana. I can’t believe how small and humble their home is. I taught them about baptism and repentance with a candle for light, a cat licking my ear and wearing no shoes sitting on the dirt floor. I love it here!  I have grown to love Fabiana and her family so much.  Such a good day! Remember we shouldn’t be afraid if we do what is right. Psalms 27

Week 48 in Uruguay: "What a Week"

7/9/18-7/17/18
“What a week”

Tuesday – Wednesday
Tuesday was great, we taught Karina with a member.  Let me tell you how amazing it is to have a member in the charlas.   It helps so much!  The spirit was super strong as well.  After, we biked to China haha and taught Lucas and his mom. We put a date for them to be baptized on the 11th.  Please pray for them.  To end the day, we roasted smores at Laurito’s house!  It’s so funny to see peoples reaction from eating something like that lol.  On Wednesday, we had intercambios with the zone leaders.  I went with Elder Criollo.  He is so funny!  We taught a lady and taught her about repentance.  Repentance is the way to feel peace and be converted.  After, we taught an older lady that would just say I’m handsome out of nowhere haha.  So right now, I seem to be am attracting 40 year old women, lol!  To end the night, we talked to a 16 year old girl.  Elder Criollo did a full on investigation about the word of wisdom.  Do you smoke, no... but you are drinking, right? No, oh so you like the drugs…no.  It was so funny haha!

Thursday – Friday
Thursday was seriously an amazing day!  We were contacting all day and no one wanted anything to do with us because it was too cold.  We did a huge service for Fabiana and an older lady by cutting wood for them.  They had no wood to make a fire.  Nothing better than a machete and a couple of trees to make some fire. After, we were about to go home when we stopped by a member’s house.  We talked to their two kids and another lady.  We talked about repentance, which seemed to be the theme for the week. We taught them it’s a way to be forgiven and feel happiness.  After we invited the family to repent.  We then got on the topic of baptism.  The lady wants to be baptized.  Miracles were everywhere!  Please follow the still small voice and don’t be afraid to be bold and loving!  Friday, we taught a lady who owned a pet sheep; the sheep head butted her 2 year old son.  It was insane!  The mom was just yelling at her son and I was like, lady, um, your son is face down in the dirt haha but he is all good.  After, we taught Karina.  My favorite saying is Hoy es El Dia! After, we passed by Fabiana she cooked something that I died eating.  Don’t know what it was, but definitely said a prayer for it.

Saturday – Sunday
Saturday, we met Karina’s husband. He was such a cool guy.  He cut my hair.  Its ok but a little choppy. It’s what you have to do to gain the confidence with the investigators.  They also made us pizza.  Sunday, we went to one of the members to see their daughter open up her call.  She is going to Brazil.  Later, we had a lesson with Claudia but she was all over her boyfriend.  The spirit really wasn’t there.  My companion got sick today so we couldn’t really do anything.  Well, always remember that we have angels all around us to bear us up.  Something my mom taught me.  “Do your part and God will do his.”

Week 47 in Uruguay: "One Down One to Go"

7/2/18-7/9/18

One down one to go!

Tuesday - Wednesday
Tuesday we taught Fabiana! We painted on her wall the things she needs to start doing now. Super cool! After, I gave a blessing to Adriana. The spirit was so strong! What a privilege we have to be able to use and receive the blessings from the Priesthood.  Wednesday was district meeting; it was such a good meeting about the gospel. I am loving the role I have. Yes, I am 100% exhausted every night, but the feeling we get from simply helping others is amazing! We become more like Christ. We played futbol in honor of Uruguay “la Copa minisol” with a bunch of little kids.  It was awesome! After we ate lunch. This lady is super poor but loves us.  She makes us a lot of food, the best thing was she makes this dessert that I can’t eat lol. It’s so BAD!  I told her my comp loves it haha and he didn’t understand so he said “si” like yes haha so she gave him my half haha.

Thursday - Friday
Today, we studied in Alma 31 that we just need to pray with Faith. God will listen. It’s as simple as that! Well, we had a charla with Karina. She has been very unsure but we had the best charla ever with her.  We talked about the importance of baptism and we all bore our testimonies. The spirit was so strong! Karina was crying the whole time. She also accepted a date to be baptized. Friday, we had a conference just for the new missionaries, which was super good. After we taught Mirbelo y Juan! It was so good and my comp talked a lot more.  I bore my testimony about DyC 121:7-8. Juan asked me “why are you here?” I told him how this is one way I can try to pay my Savior back for all he did for me. I was crying, Juan was crying and the Spirit was amazing.   After, we went to Laurito’s and I burned a shirt for my 1 year!

Saturday - Sunday
Saturday was a super super cold day! We were soaked from head to toe but still smiling and laughing though haha. We played dominoes with Joaquin, his mom made us take off our socks because they were soaked haha. There’s nothing better than being barefoot on cement floors and a couple chickens running around. Well, we got home and I asked my companion for a blessing because my toes are destroyed again! There is nothing too small or insignificant for a blessing, always remember that. Sunday, we taught so many people. The streets were flooded so biking got wet and cold, but it was worth it. Always remember that someone is waiting for you every day, don’t be afraid to go find them.
