Week 53 in Uruguay: "Lucia's Life Changed"

8/13/18-8/20/18

“Lucia’s life changed”

Tuesday - Wednesday
First of all let’s just say what a week! A week full of miracles! Nothing is better than changing someone’s day and seeing them smile. Tuesday, we had a district meeting, which went really well. Then we went and taught a couple of people. One guy we taught asked us so many questions, it was the best, because at the end he goes well, “I am Mormon then”, haha super funny! Wednesday, we had the best pizza ever! It had flavor! It was so good. Made me pretty trunky haha just playing. We had divisions with the zone leaders and it went really well! Every single day we have to look at the little miracles God gives us. We just have to try to be a little better every day and God will bless us. That night my companion and I froze as we slept on the floor haha.

Thursday - Friday
Thursday we taught the daughter of Karina. It is crazy how people can tell the difference in someone. When we keep the commandments we have a light! La Luz De Cristo! Karina’s daughter wants a piece of that light. Friday was the day of service. We cut trees, chopped wood for fire for a membro, painted, and cleaned out a house. I think we found some undiscovered animals lol. We also taught Lucia to get her ready for her baptism.

Saturday - Sunday
We got up and went to the church. We played volleyball, basketball and soccer. Let’s just say playing Latinos in soccer is one of the most embarrassing things to do. lol I’m pretty sure I looked like I have never seen a ball before haha. But it was fun! I did score once lol! We baptized Lucia! I had the opportunity to baptize her. Her whole family came and they want to be taught. It was probably the most spiritual baptism in my mission. I have never felt such peace, if you want to know more ask Mama Knell. Sunday, I got asked to give a talk 2 minutes before sacrament. I was super nervous but after I prayed and took the sacrament, I felt a calmness. The spirit was so strong. It was like I had everything planned before, and God put the words that needed to be said in me. God will bless us if we are willing to humble ourselves.

Week 52 in Uruguay: "Karina and Julieta went Swimming"

“Karina and Julieta went swimming”

Tuesday - Wednesday
Tuesday, we talked to Karina. She wanted nothing at first with what we had to teach her, like nothing, but with Christ nothing is impossible! We had one of the most spiritual charlas with her. I opened the Book of Mormon to a random page, wrote her question down on it and then closed it. I said on that page you’ll find your answer! That night we got a call from her crying saying she received her answer. The spirit is so cool! Also that night, I met Florencia “Flopi” the Laurito‘s daughter lol. She has been living in Provo for a year and came home early to surprise her mom for a few weeks. Wednesday, we worked with Joaquin, he wanted to see what it would be like to be a missionary for the day. Haha it was super fun! We also met a satan worshiper. It was super dark and just creepy! That story with him is a good story to tell in person lol. After, we helped Flopi scare her mom! It was so fun to surprise them.

Thursday - Friday
Thursday, we made pizookies. They were so so good. I think I ate a little too much. We also taught Karina and confirmed her baptism. It was a really cool day. Friday, we went to this reference and they ended up being inactive members haha. It was so funny, they knew everything. They were super super sweet with us. They made us hot chocolate and apple cake. Super good! The older grandma had 13 cats. It was insane! They were everywhere. After we taught and contacted them, we went to Karina’s house for her baptism interview. They both passed!!! Such a cool day.

Saturday - Sunday
Today was such an amazing day! We baptized Karina and her daughter Julieta. The spirit was amazing and Julieta bore her testimony and everyone was crying. After the baptism, we made cookie dough. On Sunday, we met two drunk people that were completely wasted. It was the funniest thing ever to talk to them. We confirmed Karina and Julieta. Later, we went and taught Adriana and Fabiana. We will be baptizing Adriana this week or next!! Fabiana must have been having a bad day because she went off for like 45 minutes, Haha. The mission is the best place to develop patience! After, we taught Lucia. She is getting dunked this week! Pray for her that everything goes well. She is super excited. She changed her whole life around. It’s the best thing to be able to rely on the Lord for help. Remember if we endure our trials well, we will be blessed on high. DyC 121:7–8

Week 51 in Uruguay: "Michael and Luana get dunked"

Below is this week’s letter from Elder Knell. We also wanted to share a message we got from one of the members in his ward. The Lord’s hand in Uruguay.

Vicki,
Last night some friends from the ward came to visit me and we were talking about how the ward and members are doing. Everyone agreed that since Elder Knell is here the ward is doing better and we are having the best numbers of baptisms in years. He is a great missionary …

“Michael and Luana get dunked”

Tuesday – Wednesday
Tuesday we painted the casa of Karina. It was an awesome service! She so funny, she put on the NBA, lol. She gave us food to eat, which was super nice. They also told us that they want to be baptized, it was the coolest thing ever. They gave each other the biggest hug (Karina and Julio). After, we taught Adriana and she just cried and cried to us. She wants to be baptized, but can’t move yet…(She is living with someone). After we taught Lucia. We taught her brother also, Fran. I love them. It’s so funny teaching them! I hope they can be baptized. The spirit was so strong! It was seriously so amazing! Wednesday, we had a conference and then we taught Adriana and Luana. Such a cool experience, Luana wants to be baptized on her mother’s B-Day. Super cool. After, we saw a seal on the beach. It was actually super cool. My comp saw a shooting star, still waiting to see one of those, haha.

Thursday – Friday
Thursday, we said hi to mama Laurito and then we taught Fabiana. We did a service for her and then taught Joaquin’s Grandma. Hopefully, we can convert the whole family! After, we got yelled at because we knocked on some people’s doors during lunchtime. They were going off saying how we don’t respect the Lord’s hour of eating lunch, lol. Super funny!

Saturday – Sunday
Saturday, we played a little bit of futbol, it was fun and the little kids are the best to play with. I love them so much. Well, Satan won a battle, haha. The water for the baptism font was ice again! Somehow the gas wasn’t working, but we still won the war. My comp and I both baptized. We baptized Luana and Michael. Such miracles, and after we played uno. It was such a good day. Sunday was the most stressful day for me. We had to go find Michael to receive the Holy Ghost. We had 6 investigates come to church! Please pray for Karina! She is still doubting. Please pray for her and Juan. We ate so much on Sunday and taught a little boy that is 12 not to smoke. Crazy! I love the people here. The Laurito’s gave us some food, haha. I love Hermana Laurito!

Well, remember that where ever you go, God is with you! Psalms 1:27

Week 50 in Uruguay: "Today is the day to Change"

7/23/18-7/30/18

"Today is the day to change"

Tuesday-Wednesday
Tuesday, we had a conference and then taught Karina. There were so many doubts and stuff that was going on through her mind. I was able to testify about José Smith and the spirit was so strong. When we really know for ourselves there is nothing better than defending what we believe! After, a huge miracle happened, her daughter who is 6, asked me if I could live with my family forever. Yeah, a 6 year-old asking me about eternal life. I know without a doubt God put the words in her mouth. I testified about Parker Hamby and my second mom Harmony that they will be together again! The spirit in that room was the strongest I have ever felt! It was seriously like a piece of heaven in our home! Wednesday was our district meeting and it was super fun and so spiritual. After the meeting, we taught Fabiana, such a good lesson!

Thursday - Friday
We had lunch with our investigator and her familia! It was actually super good. After my comp had to do an exam. I got to play a little basketball. It was awesome and exactly what I needed! Well, right after that, President showed up to do the entrevista with Fabiana to be baptized. Two hours later, Fabiana came out with a smile on her face. She passed! We also dedicated the house of Fabiana. It was such a cool experience! We walked 25,000 steps today, it was insane! We also cut wood and did a lot of service projects in the rain.

Saturday to Sunday
Saturday was so cool. We organized an activity and played volleyball. It was actually a lot of fun! We had some investigators show up. After we played futbol for a little, I showed my skills haha. I’m so bad at soccer but then we got to play basketball!! Man, do I miss basketball haha. I am so excited to play ball again! Well after that Satan tried to ruin our baptism. We had no hot water but we were still able to baptize Fabiana! Let me tell you, the water was so so cold haha. Fabiana and I were shaking. After, she told me how much she cares for me and she started to cry. She and all the people I have met here have changed my life! Fabiana looked amazing in white. It was one of the biggest miracles I have seen. Sunday we gave her the Holy Ghost. She had this light that was so amazing! It made me so happy that she asked us to help give it to her. So amazing! We also taught Claudia about the ley de castidad. Such a good lesson! The spirit was so strong. God was pouring out His Spirit upon us! We also taught Lucia and she wants to be baptized. It’s amazing! Well please read Alma 34:31 Hoy es el Dia!
