Week 28 in Uruguay: "Couples therapy and services= Missionary Work"

2/19/18-2/26/18

Tuesday-Wednesday
We had our district meeting and it was really good, we talked about goals. Always try to set goals to do things better and better yourself to become like our Father in Heaven.  After we had to run to our bus stop and people were chanting all sorts of funny things at us… I was laughing. We got to our house and had to hurry and clean like crazy because President Eddy (my Mission President) came to inspect our house and we had interviews with him. I talked to him for over an hour. We talked a lot about our life after this earth and about our Heavenly Mother and about the resurrection. Just remember God has a plan and everything is for a reason.  Also, if we just look, there are blessings in everything.
Wednesday, we taught this man that lost his wife. One of my really good friends, Elder Parker Hamby’s mom, Harmoni, passed away this week. I know it was a hard week for many people and myself because she was a blessing to so many of us. I testified of the Plan of Salvation to this man that wanted nothing from us. I was pretty emotional when I spoke because it has been a hard week.  I talked about Parker and his mom and that they will see each other again. The man wants to know more and is praying again. Miracles!  After, we taught this guy named Wilson. We are trying to get him to stop smoking. He took it the wrong way and got super mad but everything is good. His mom came over and did not want to talk to us at all.  He told his mom, wait watch this.  He tossed me a ball and I spun it on my finger. The mom thought it was the coolest thing ever. She invited us in and we taught her about the Book of Mormon. She is a golden person! She wants to know more! She wanted us to write our names in the Book of Mormon, It was a super cool day!

Thursday-Friday
Today was a fantastic day! We taught Evelinda, who is like 70. We talked to her about baptism and she said she wants to get baptized in the next life lol.  We then talked to a member, Reina.  She is super nice and talks really fast.  Later we went to this really nice place where there was a  german shepherd.  I miss my boy, bear!!  Well, I’ve been dealing with 2 ingrown toenails for the past 3 weeks. I finally got brave enough to try to rip it out. I’m not sure if I helped it or made it worse.
On Friday we taught Andrea about the Plan of Salvation. It was a super good lesson. She asked all sorts of things about baptism. Hopefully she is serious! We also had a lesson with our President of our Rama and his 3 year old daughter was singing to us. It was so funny!

Saturday-Sunday
I died on Saturday. We helped a member who just got married move into his house. They had so many things! After we had another service project with another member. We cut grass and weeded for over 2 hours. I destroyed my hands. The field was a giant ant hill. Let’s just say I have never seen bigger ants in my life! We ate this way good lunch then taught a family. They had the cutest 3 year old little girl. After we taught this couple, it was like couples therapy the whole time haha. There was a lot of yelling and they told us all their problems, yelling at each other! It was crazy! We then set up a satellite dish for our President so he could watch TV haha. Saturday was such an exhausting day!
Sunday was not my favorite day. We walked super far to our 1st counselor’s house for lunch. He has kidney stones. It was hilarious talking to him. Then we went out to teach and no one was home. It was terrible! We went to a member’s house, Hermano Keke and we only talked about kidney stones. It was so funny. Then our President/ Bishop came over and he joined in on his experiences haha. Well, from what I learned, I am sorry to all those who have had kidney stones haha. We then went to Albero, our investigator’s house. I asked his wife if she knows how to fix an ingrown toenail because they were killing me. She made me take off my socks and she went to work! She said it was so infected! I bit a sock and I’m pretty sure I destroyed my comp’s arm. She was pushing on my toe, trying to get all the infection out. I was screaming! I ended up walking home with no shoes on. Gotta love the work!
